Organisational Background

The Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress (ORAP) is a leading local NGO involved in development and relief (emergency) work in rural communities in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Midlands provinces. It exists to fight all forms of poverty among the rural and urban grassroots communities of disadvantaged women, men and youth through the empowerment of people by facilitating their development in their diverse cultural contexts.

 

Position summary

The incumbent is expected to ensure that ORAP finances are allocated and utilized as per the budget and there is compliance with all relevant policies

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities include:-

  • Overseeing cash flow planning and availability
  • Participating in cash, investment and asset management meetings.
  • Supervising subordinates
  • Preparing all financial reports on cash flows, investments and asset management
  • Identifying training needs and trains staff
  • Overseeing daily implementation of the ORAP Accounting Manual
  • Preparing for organizational audits
  • Upholding the ORAP Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan
  • Performs any other related duties as delegated by the Systems Support Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, ICSA, CIMA or ACCA.

 Experience

  • A minimum of seven years working in production of accounts up to balance sheet.
  • Should have previously worked with people of different age groups in a culturally diverse environment

  • Computer literate and familiar with relevant software packages
  • Strong problem solving and leadership skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Displays an understanding of rural economy dynamics
