JOB DESCRIPTION
Development Aid from People to People Zimbabwe (DAPP) is looking for a qualified and experienced Finance Officer with Finance or Accounting background to be based at its National Office in Harare.
Job Summary:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing finance support across the payables, grants and contracts sections of the National Office. She/He will be the key focal person for other departments on financial and accounting issues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep accurate records for all financial transactions; Prepare balance sheets; Record accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
- Reconcile bank statements;
- Participate in financial audits;
- Track bank deposits and payments;
- Review and implement financial policies;
- Receives and records transactions into the financial system;
- Assists in the recording of payment requests;
- Ensures sufficient documentation before entering transactions into the financial system;
- Assists in preparation of pay schedules;
- Assists in compiling allocated donor reports, sub ledger reports and bank reconciliations before the set monthly deadlines;
- Supports the Finance Manager with grants related financial management.
Requirements / Qualifications
- BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Higher National Diploma in Accounting
- Be a registered member of a professional accounting board/association
- At least 5 years proven work experience as a Finance Officer or similar role in an NGO environment
- At least 3-5 years proven experience managing USAID and EU grants
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting regulations and procedures
- Experience using financial and accounting software(Pastel)
- Solid background in project budgets formulation, review and monitoring
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent time management and ability to handle time sensitive tasks
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
- Pays attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Should have excellent organizational skills
- Should have mature work ethics
- Willing to abide by DAPP code of conduct, values and its mission statement
