The Office of the Attorney-General is established in terms of Section 114 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe with the function s:-
(a> To act as the principal legal adviser to the Government:
(b) To represent the Government in civil and constitutional proceedings;
(c) To draft legislation on behalf of the Government
(d > To promote, protect and uphold the rule of law and to defend the public interest; and
(e) lb exercise any other functions that may be assigned to the Attorney- General by an Act of Pa rliament.
Subsequently the Attomey-Generars Office Ad (Chapter 7:19) statutised the Office to become a statutory body with a Board whose fundions shall be ‘to ensure the well-being and good administration of the Office and its maintenance in a high state of efficiency.” During the exercise of its functions the Board shal not be subject to the control oc direction of any person or authority, other than for the purpose of audit by the Auditor-General of those funds of the Office that are voted by Parliament or charged on the Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Reports to the Secretary.
Responsibilities

a. Participating in the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies and procedures to support the Office goals and objectives.
b. Approving cash How projections and implementation of cash management strategies, and optimizingcash resources.
c. Managing banking relationships, credit facilities and investment portfolios.
d. Conducting financial analysis, forecasting and budgeting to provide accurate and timely financial information to the Secretary and stakeholders.
e. Evaluating finanoal performance, identifying areas fa improvement, and recommending corrective action.
f. Preparing and presenting financial reports to the Secretary.
g. Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulations and reporting requirements.
h. Coordinating and overseeing external audits and ensuring accurate andtimely submission of financial statements.
i. Devdopmgriskmanagementpolides.strategiesandmanagngrisks.
j. Monitoring and analyzing financial market trends, economic indicators and industry factors that may impact the Office’s financial post ion.
k. Establishing and maintaining strong financial governance and internal control frameworks.
l. Enforcing compliance with financial controls and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
a. Afirst degree infinance, accountingor equivalent
b. AMaster’s degree ora professional qualification in a related field.
c. At least 8 years experience in financial management 5 of which should be in a senior managerial position.
d. Ability to communicate effectively.
e. Very good Interpersonal skills.
