JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Chinhoyi University of Technology Council is inviting suitably qualified and experienced applicants to fill a senior position of Bursar/ Finance Director which has arisen in the institution. The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University with overall responsibility of safeguarding funds and authorizing investments and expenditure. He is part of the Senior Management Team in the University and plays a key role in the Strategic Planning and decision making process in the Institution.

DUTIES
The Job Involves:-
Taking full responsibility for all the financial affairs of the University including strategic planning, implementing sound accounting procedures and treasury management
Providing policy advice and accounting services to a wide range of clients within the University community and ensuring that the financial regulations and procedures are continually adhered to and updated as necessary

Undertaking the full range of company secretarial duties and administration of the University’s pension and portfolios
Providing managerial and financial reports as required by University management, the University Council and its Committees
Assisting the Vice Chancellor in formulating and managing the institution’s budget and attend to audit queries
Arranging University investments in consultation with the Vice Chancellor

REQUIREMENTS
The individual should be a holder of a Bachelor of Accountancy degree or equivalent and a relevant Masters degree. Additional qualifications such as ACCA/CIS/CIMA or any other professional qualification and membership of any professional body is a distinct advantage. Possession of an MBA and or a relevant Doctorate or progress towards such a qualification is an added advantage. The ideal candidate should have at least five years managerial experience of which three should be at senior level in a large organisation. Experience and a strong understanding of dynamics in higher education.
