The Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT) is an innovative conservation partnership founded by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The primary goal of GCT is the sustainable development and protection of Gonarezhou National Park. The role of the Finance Assistant is to support the Finance Department with data entry of the organisation transactions into the financial systems; maintaining the accounting records; performing appropriate controls and reconciliations; support the production of monthly management reports and reports to external funders; and support with the year-end, and audit process. Applications are therefore invited
from experienced and qualified candidates for the above position which has arisen within the
Gonarezhou Conservation Trust (GCT).

DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Reconciling bank statements by comparing statements with general ledger.
• Maintaining accounting databases by entering data into the computer; processing backups.
• Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
• Updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial
business transactions (e.g., Disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable).
• Recommending actions to resolve discrepancies & investigating questionable data.
• Assisting in month end reporting procedures.
• Receipting payments, preparation and coordinating deposit activities.
• Updating the Fixed Asset Register and fixed asset verification.
• Filling and preparation for annual statutory audit.
• Maintaining accounting records by making copies and filing documents.
• Sorting, coding, and entering accounting data & any other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL

• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge on Pastel Evolution and Belina software.
• Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills a must.
• Attention to detail, problem solving and ability to multi-task is an asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• HND Accounting/Degree in Accounting/ACCA/CIMA/CIS.
• 2-years relevant experience.
