Key Responsibilities
- Developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and monitoring productivity and staff attendance.
- Resource management planning and controlling.
- Preparing plans and work schedules for planting, weed and pest management, and harvesting.
- Maintaining accurate records of input stocks for seed, fertilizer, chemicals, and curing materials.
- Recruiting, deploying, supervising and training labour across farm operations.
- Handling labour issues – disputes, grievances, & disciplinary matters in line with regulations.
- Scheduling repairs and maintenance and replacement of equipment and machinery.
- Producing and maintaining farm records.
- Ensuring all staff adhere to health and safety standards.
- Managing curing operations and supervising the forced draught curing system; including Chongololo and Batch curers.
- Managing the cooperative’s activities including stakeholder relations, member training, task allocation and distribution of resources.
Requirements
- National Certificate/ Diploma/Higher National Diploma/Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy or Farm Management.
- Post graduate Certificate in Tobacco Production is an added advantage.
- At least 5 Ordinary level Passes including Maths and English.
- At least 7 years’ experience in Commercial farming.
- Practical experience with forced draught curing systems, including Chongololo and Batch curers.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean Farm labour laws and farm labour management practices.
- Verifiable production history for tobacco and other crops.
- Valid Class 3 drivers’ licence is mandatory
- Valid Class 4 Drivers licence is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
