Farm Bookkeeper (1 Post) – Harare Institute Of Technology
Full Time
The Farm Bookkeeper will be responsible for all clerical accounting and administrative duties at the Farm. The successful candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager, and will report to the Accountant at Head Office.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have at least 5 O’ Level passes including Mathematics and English Language;
ZAAT/SAAA/CIS Part B or equivalent;
A degree in Accounting would be an added advantage;
Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience;
Experience in a commercial farm setup would be an added advantage;
Have a deep understanding of Commercial Farm Operations and farm dynamics;
Have proven experience of using Pastel Accounting package;
A clean class 4 Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage;
Ability to ride a motor bike will also be an added advantage;
Demonstrated interest and a passion in farming and be prepared to stay on the farm.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting the Farm Manager in the preparation of the farm budget;
Supervising Stores and Sales Clerks;
Monitoring expenditures and use of farm resources to ensure adherence to the budget;
Reviewing the Farm’s financial reports and other documents to ensure they are accurate;
Performing bookkeeping duties to trial balance;
Compiling monthly Farm Management Accounts for the Farm Management Committee and the Board;
Supporting the Farm Manager to ensure that there are strong systems of internal control at the Farm;
Keeping the Farm Asset Register and controlling the use of all farm inventories, inputs and farm produce;
Supporting the Farm Manager in all administrative duties at the farm;
Maintaining all records at the Farm;
Preparing the monthly wage bill;
Preparing weekly returns to Head Office and
Any other duties as may be assigned from Head Office.
