VACANCY
Hillcrest Schools, a dynamic independent private school in Mutare and a proud member of ATS/CHISZ, invites applications from qualified, experienced, and multi-skilled individuals for the position of Estates and Maintenance Manager, effective 1 August 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will oversee all estate, facilities, and maintenance operations across the school campuses, including:

Repairs and maintenance of school premises, facilities, utilities, buildings, roads, staff accommodation, and other infrastructure.

Preparation and maintenance of sports fields, grounds, gardens, and swimming pools.

Planned and scheduled irrigation of fields and landscaping improvements.
-
Operation and resuscitation of the school’s agricultural plot.
-
Management of water purification, storage, and distribution systems.
-
Oversight, management and improvement of refuse recycling and disposal.
-
Leading and supervision of all estates, cleaning and maintenance staff.
-
Procurement and storage of estate and maintenance materials, consumables, and tools.

Budget formulation and cost-effective management of resources.

Implementation of sustainability and utility conservation initiatives.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
-
A relevant technical, engineering, facilities, or agricultural qualification, degree or diploma.

Knowledge of building, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and welding works.

At least 5 years’ relevant experience in estates or facilities management.

Knowledge of maintenance systems and infrastructure operations.

Hands-on approach, with sound planning, problem solving and communication skills.

Familiarity with MBWA (Management by Walking Around) practices is essential.

Proactive, optimistic and enthusiastic.
