Job Summary

 

 

• Promote and safeguard public health through implementation and enforcement of environmental health policies and regulations

• Ensure compliance with health standards in the community

Qualifications and Requirements

 

 

• 5 O Levels including English and Mathematics (one sitting)

• Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or equivalent

• Master’s Degree in Environmental Health or Public Health is a distinct advantage

• Must be registered under Environmental Health Practitioner’s Council of Zimbabwe

• Valid practising certificate (attach on application)

• No criminal record (attach Police clearance)

• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar work environment in the Public Sector

• At least 35 years of age

• Clean Class 4 driver’s licence

• Be a Zimbabwean citizen

Roles and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise implementation of environmental health activities

• Develop strategies to prevent and manage diseases in the area of jurisdiction

• Inspect premises for licensing and registration certificates issuance

• Examine and approve building plans

• Collaborate with other departments on infrastructure design to prevent environmental degradation

• Identify and propose areas for environmental health policy reviews

• Compile and submit progress reports to Housing and Community Services Officer

• Supervise subordinates and students on attachment

• Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
