RESPONSIBILITY

‘the incumbent shall be responsible to the Field Maintenance Manager.

KEY JOB PURPOSE

To carry out AC/DC electrical installations and repairs of mobile telecommunications equipment, aviation lights instal­lation and maintenance as per CAAZ regulations, site energisation of sites running permanently on generators and work with ZETDC in ensuring urgent fault resolution at the base stations, electrical installations/wiring and maintenance at shops and offices.

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Installs cellular mobile electrical installations/equipment;
2. Maintains electrical power plants and infrastructure at base stations, offices and shops;
3. Liaises with ZETDC to resolve commercial power faults affecting operations in the Zone;
4. Comes up with accurate diagrams for all electrical systems & installations;
5. Installs AC power in all new buildings and containers accommodating cellular mobile equipment;
6. Installs DC power, rectifiers and associated equipment;
7. Installs aviation lights on towers as per CAAZ regulations;
8. Recommends material/equipmenl required to carry out installations/maintenance works according to laid standards;
9. Identifies potential suppliers of the required material in compliance with laid down purchasing procedures;
10. Applies to ZETDC for new power connections and power upgrades for existing sites;
11. Installs generator sets electrical wirings.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Power Engineering;
• 4 year Apprentice trained from a reputable organization;
• Five years’ experience in the electrical engineering field;
• Telecommunications Sector knowledge;
• Clean class four (4) drivers license with at least two years driving experience and a valid defensive driving certificate.

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of maintenance procedures;
• Ability to work with minimum or no supervision;
• General knowledge of alternators and control panels;
• Knowledge of safety and health regulations when working with electrical plants and equipment;
• Sound AC and DC power systems and related installations/maintenance knowledge.
