Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Carries out routine site inspections
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment to locate and identify problems, using reading and testing instruments.
• Practical knowledge in the Installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
• Attends to equipment commissioning and test runs
• Participates in hazard identification and risk assessments for project critical activities
• High voltage switching authorization will be an added advantage

 

Qualifications and Experience

• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant trade (Electrical Engineering)
National Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering
• Knowledge of design, installation / commissioning for power plant I substation or transmission equipment and protective relays
• Power generation/Transmission & Distribution experience is an added advantage
• 4 years post apprenticeship experience
