Freda Rebecca Gold Mine Limited owns and operates the largest integrated gold processing plant in Zimbabwe.
The mine has a capacity to generate and process 2.8 million tonnes of ore per annum.
An exciting and challenging career opportunity has arisen at its operations in Bindura, for the position of Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
‘This position provides technical and administrative leadership and management of the Electrical Control and
Instrumentation department at Freda Rebecca Gold Mine and therefore, among other things:
• Develops, manages and maintains the Electrical Engineering Asset Management System in line with the Company’s overall Asset Management System, including the development, enforcement and maintenance of all SOPs.

Compiles, motivates and manages the Departmental Opex budget and provides input into the development of the Company’s Capex budgeting.
- Ensures availability of, and manages all critical electrical spares including motor rewinds management and the management of the repair of all other electrical equipment.
- Manages energy and cost containment, ensuring efficient usage of electrical energy.
- Engages with the electrical power utility for continuous reliable power supply to the mine.
- Ensures availability of backup power to all essential loads.
- Conducts compliance audits and periodically visits Electrical Engineering service providers.
- Manages the performance of contractors and ensures compliance to the service contract and SLAs.
- Provides input into and/or manages SIB Capex projects within the Department.
- proves all Electrical Engineering designs and conducts FAT’s for all Cape electrical equipment.
- Schedules statutory inspections on all electrical installations and ensures compliance to all local and international statutes.
- Facilitates electrical equipment risk analysis and initiates corrective action where necessary.
- Manages radioactive sources on the Mine and interfaces with the Regulator as required from time to time.
- Identifies staff training requirements, recommends implementation of the training and monitors its effectiveness and provides coaching and mentoring services within the department as required.
- Enforces Safety, Health and Environmental standards in line with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards as well as on other relevant legal frameworks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum B. Sc. (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree or equivalent is required with at least 5 years relevant experience (post learnership) in mining or heavy-duty industry.
- Must be a member of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers and be registered with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe. Membership of, and/or registration with, any other internationally recognised professional bodies will be an added advantage.
- A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, M.Sc. Degree in Engineering or other relevant master’s degree is an added advantage.
- A Diploma or higher qualification in Project Management is an added advantage.
