CITY OF HARARE: CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

POSITION : District Research and Information Officer (5 Positions) GRADE : 8
LOCATION : City Health Clinics/Hospitals
REPORTS TO : Clinical Medical Officer

Job purpose: The position is responsible for ensuring effective data collection, analysis, and reporting of health information within their assigned district, supporting data-driven decision-making and quality improvement activities

KEY RESULT AREAS

※ Supervising and mentoring health facility staff on data collection, recording, and reporting using appropriate tools.
※ Ensuring accurate and timely data entry into the Zimbabwe Health Information System (DHIS2).
※ Conducting routine data quality audits at health facilities.
※ Analyzing health data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
※ Generating reports and presentations to inform decision-making at the district level.
※ Disseminating health information to relevant stakeholders.
※ Providing technical support to healthcare workers on data management and health information systems.
※ Mentoring facility-level staff to ensure they can collect, consolidate, verify, analyze, and use data for facility-level data-driven decision-making and quality improvement activities.
※ Monitoring and evaluating the performance of health programs within the district.
※ Contributing to the development and implementation of health information systems.
※ Conducts operational research so as to understand community and district health behaviours

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

※ Degree in Health Information Management/Biostatistics/Health Informatics

※ Two (2) years’ experience in a similar position is required
OR
※ Higher National Diploma in Health Information Management/Biostatistics/Health Informatics
※ Five (5) years’ experience in a similar position is required
