VACANCY
DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above-mentioned vacant position, which has risen at Hwange Local Board.
Duties
• Head of the Department of Finance: overall management of the Department in all managerial and operational aspects
• Responsible for prudent management of Council’s financial affairs
• Providing professional advice to Council on all financial matters
• Responsible for designing and implementation of sound financial accounting systems
• Responsible for coordinating, crafting and implementation of Council budget
• Ensuring that all accounting books are kept up-to-date and balanced
• Production of final accounts timeously
• Production of financial statements and reports for the annual audit as and when required and requested
• Implementation of Program budgeting
• Ensuring that results-based management is implemented at all levels in the Department of Finance
• Liaising and coordinating with other Council departments on the best use of Council resources for best returns
• Any other duties as assigned by the Town Secretary from time to time.
Requirements
• The ideal candidate must possess a recognised degree in Accountancy, Finance or any equivalent qualification.
• A relevant Master’s degree would be an added advantage
• The candidate should be a member of any of the following professional bodies, CIMA, CISA, IMTA, ZIPFA or other recognised bodies.
• A sound background of financial management at a senior level for a period of at least three years.
• As this is a senior and key position in Council, the ideal candidate should be mature and at least 35 years of age.
