VACANCY
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will direct activities of the OSH Division in the implementation of Government OSH policies, with the overall aim of ensuring the health and safety of employees in all sectors of the economy, and the effective administration of the Accident Prevention and Workers Compensation Insurance Fund and Pension Schemes.
Key Outputs
-
Implementation of OSH policy and international labour standards.

Implement OSH inspection, accident investigation, and audit systems on OSH to monitor compliance.
-
Promote and safeguard the health and safety of any person at the workplace.
-
Effective administration of the POBS and APWC funds.
-
Research health practices for industry who will work as an OSH extension to protect the interests of workers.
-
Develop and maintain a pool of OSH professionals and practitioners.
-
Develop and implement OSH training and awareness programmes.
-
Provide technical advice to all stakeholders.
-
Prepare Board Papers and reports for NSSA management and board, ZOHSC and the Ministry of Labour.

Editor of the “Guard” Magazine which is published by the OSH Directorate to promote transparency and outreach.

To manage the APWC’s.
Qualifying Requirements
-
A BSc Degree in Physical Sciences eg Environmental Health/Occupational Health/Natural Sciences/Medicines, Engineering or equivalent.

A Master’s in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent from a reputable tertiary institution.
-
A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in administering occupational health programmes, 5 of which should have been at senior management level.
