VACANCY
The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) is an agency of Government charged with Arts Development and Promotion. Its functions are to foster, develop and improve the knowledge, understanding, teaching and practice of the arts for the benefit of all citizens as enshrined in the National Constitution.
The NACZ is looking to hire a Director to oversee its revenue-generating activities under a fixed five-year contract, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. The ideal candidate will provide transformative leadership to re-engineer the NACZ into a viable entity. They should have the ability to develop, expand, and sustain business models and units that enable the Council to better meet its constitutional mandate.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director will be based at NACZ Head Office in Harare.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for driving the Council’s financial sustainability by identifying, securing, and managing diverse funding streams. This includes developing strategic partnerships, fostering corporate sponsorships, securing grants, and creating innovative income-generating initiatives to support the arts sector. The role also involves designing and implementing resource mobilisation strategies, engaging stakeholders, and exploring commercial opportunities to ensure the Council’s long-term viability and growth. By leveraging both local and international networks, the Director will enhance revenue streams, reduce dependency on government funding, and promote the financial independence of the Council.

The Person
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a combination of strategic, interpersonal and leadership qualities to drive financial stability for the NACZ. Intimate knowledge of business development, entrepreneurship and administration is essential. Other attributes for this position include being an excellent negotiator, a good marketer, a relationship builder, and having strong financial acumen. Demonstrable experience in Strategic planning, corporate governance and innovative management is essential.
Qualifications and Experience

A University degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Management.

Experience in Marketing and Business Plan development, as well as a postgraduate qualification, will be an added advantage.

At least 3 years’ experience at senior management level.

Computer literacy and new media awareness

A clean driver’s licence.
