The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the
following post in the Innovation and Business Development: –
DIRECTOR: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (1 POST)
Reporting directly to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Innovation and Business Development (PVC-IBD), the
incumbent oversees the operations of the Business Ventures in the University’s Industrial Park and the
Incubation Centre. The incumbent provides the main link between the NUST Innovation Hub and the
investors and other funding agencies. He/she is responsible for driving production/operation activities for
the units that are under incubation and / or are in operation as University entities.
Key Performance Areas
Investment / Commercial Project Management
o Documents and governs systems for sourcing /accepting project proposals from academic
Departments and prospective private sector partners.
o Navigates an approval system, including working with entrepreneurs to structure proposals
into business plans, selection and running of project appraisal systems.
Investment Structuring, Accounting and Economic Valuation of Projects
o Validates project-related economic data and corrects as appropriate.
o Contributes to writing business plans structured for acceptance in the commercial world.
Marketing and Business development
o Contributes to marketing analysis / strategy and writing business plans for new ventures.
o Validates project market-related data and corrects as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Industrial,
Production Engineering or related field plus at least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar
environment.
A postgraduate Degree in Financial Engineering / Business Modelling or related field.
Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience is essential.
