Proserve Executive Appointments (on behalf of a leading Financial Institution referred to as “Local Bank”) is seeking to appoint a DIRECTOR BANKING OPERATIONS. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the Bank’s core Banking Operations, encompassing Retail Banking, Growth & Customer Experience, Omnichannel Delivery (Physical & Digital), International Banking, and Microfinance, in order to drive sustainable growth, operational excellence, financial inclusion, and superior customer experience in line with the Bank’s Transformational Strategic Plan (TSP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transformation of Banking Operations aligned to the TSP and Digital Banking agenda.
  • Drive business growth through innovative Retail, Microfinance, and International Banking solutions.
  • Champion a customer-centric operating model anchored on Data, AI, and Digital capabilities.
  • Oversee branch network performance, product penetration, and customer acquisition.
  • Drive deposit mobilisation, lending growth, and cross-selling across retail segments.
  • Expand financial inclusion through microfinance and community banking initiatives.
  • Lead the design and delivery of customer experience (CX) strategies across all touchpoints.
  • Integrate Branch, Agency, Mobile, Internet, and Fintech channels into a seamless Omnichannel ecosystem.
  • Drive adoption of digital platforms and migration from physical to digital channels.
  • Ensure compliance with international banking regulations, and AML/CFT frameworks.
  • Lead microfinance strategy including SME and informal sector financing.
  • Ensure efficient, secure, and compliant Banking Operations.
  • Drive cost optimisation and productivity improvements.
  • Engage regulators, shareholders, strategic partners and collaborate with internal functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
  • Master’s Degree (MBA or equivalent).
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CFA, IOBZ) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ Banking experience, with at least 5 years at Senior/Executive level.
  • Proven experience in Retail Banking, Branch Operations, Digital/Omnichannel Banking, Customer Experience transformation, Microfinance or Financial Inclusion initiatives and International Banking operations.
  • Strong understanding of Banking Operations, Products, and Regulatory frameworks.
  • Digital Banking and Fintech Integration knowledge.
