Digital Documentation and Storytelling Inspirator (9 months) – Action Aid Zimbabwe

Programs – Harare, Harare (Hybrid)
The Digital Documentation and Storytelling Inspirator will capture and showcase the achievements of the Strategic Partnership Agreement II (2022–2026) program through high-quality digital storytelling and documentation. The role includes carrying out digital documentation, digital storytelling, transferring digital storytelling skills to partners and youth activists, and establishing robust systems for ongoing impact documentation and advocacy.

Purpose of placement

To capture the “story” of the five years of (SPA II). ActionAid Zimbabwe (AAZ) in collaboration with its implementing partners since 2022 has managed to attain key milestones centred on amplifying the voices of young people impacted by climate change in influencing the development and implementation of gender responsive policies at local and national level. Yet not much has been achieved in harvesting the key results through digital documentation of the SPA II programming in Zimbabwe. It is in light of the above that we seek the services of an experienced digital documentation and storytelling expert who will support the AAZ and partners in showcasing the achievements made under SPA II for the past five years. This person will gather the evidence (videos, photos, stories) and capacitate our partners how to do it themselves, so the work is visible to donors and the public.

The Inspirator will fill a capacity deficit in impact documentation, storytelling and communication by transferring practical skills and establishing robust systems to:

  • Systematically harvest and document all impact stories across all partners and movements.
  • Transfer essential digital communication skills (video, photography, social media narratives) to partner staff and youth activists.
  • Create a compelling narrative of youth-led social justice and secure the legacy of SPA II.
  • Empower youth movements to leverage online platforms for advocacy and policy influence.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Media, Communications, Digital Media, Photography, Videography, or a related field or equivalent professional experience, demonstrated through a strong portfolio of work.
  • Proven experience in digital storytelling, photography, videography, graphics designing and video editing and use of the following software (Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or comparable software).
  • Experience working with NGOs, youth groups, or community-based organizations.
  • Ability to train staff and youth with low technical literacy.
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of local languages
