NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT COUNCIL FOR THE COMMERCIAL SECTORS
VACANCY NOTICE
The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of:
Designated Agent
Main Purpose of the Job
Designated Agents are responsible for the day-to-day contact with employers and employees in respect of all labour relations matters falling under the scope of the Council. This entails interpreting the Council’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and any relevant Labour Legislation to the parties to any dispute in the interests of maintaining industrial harmony throughout the sector. The incumbent will also redress labour relations disputes through conciliation and arbitration within the commercial industry.
Key Responsibilities
※ Conciliate and arbitrate labour disputes in accordance with the Labour Act.
※ Interpret labour legislation for stakeholders in the Commercial Sectors industry.
※ Advise employers and employees in establishing Works Council Committees.
※ Conduct training sessions and labour briefings for members.
※ Carry out labour inspections on employment conditions within the industry.
※ Facilitate the registration of new institutions that fall under the Commercial Sectors of Zimbabwe scope of coverage.
※ Collect levies and subscriptions from members and follow up on defaulting members.
Qualifications
※ 5 ‘O’ Levels including English Language.
※ Social Science degree or equivalent.
※ Possession of an IPMZ Diploma in Labour Relations and or a certificate in Conciliation and Arbitration would be an added advantage.
Experience
※ At least 3 years’ experience as a Labour Officer or Designated Agent.
※ Strong understanding of the Commercial Sectors Industry labour laws and hands on experience in conciliation, mediation, arbitration and compilation of determinations.
Attributes
※ Good interpersonal and communication skills
※ Ability to speak Shona or Ndebele or both languages.
※ Self-motivated and results oriented
※ Computer literate
※ Analytical with sound judgement
※ High levels of integrity and professionalism
※ Clean Class 4 driver’s licence.
※ Ability to work with minimum supervision.
