VACANCY – DESIGNATED AGENT X 1 POST
Job Summary
A reputable National Employment Council (NEC) is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of Designated Agent in Harare. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting and maintaining sound industrial harmony in the industry by ensuring that both employers and employees observe the rules, regulations and procedures laid down in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), carrying out inspections, and resolution of disputes as per Labour Act. The position reports to the Chief Designated Agent.
Duties and Responsibilities
➤ Advise and assist both employers and employees in relation to their employment rights/obligations or interests.
➤ Inspect /examine employment books, records, and premises to ensure CBA compliance.
➤ Investigate complaints from industry and write reports.
➤ Conciliate/ Adjudicate/ Arbitrate on all labour disputes.
➤ Investigate and report on applications for deregistration, exemption, retrenchment, or short time work.
➤ Monthly report writing
➤ Collection and reconciliation of Council dues.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
➤ Degree in Social Sciences from a reputable University.
➤ A Diploma/ Higher Diploma/Certificate in Labour Law, Conciliation and Arbitration,
➤ Business Management and Data Protection Officer qualifications would be an added advantage.
➤ Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar post or as Labour Officer.
➤ Fluent in English and Ndebele/Shona
➤ A clean Class 4 driver’s licence is a must
➤ Must be tech savvy
➤ Appointment subject to accreditation by the Registrar of Labour in terms of Section 63 of the Labour Act.
