Deputy Director of Works and Estates (1 Post)
Reporting to the Director of Works and Estates, the Deputy Director shall be responsible for:
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting the Director with physical planning, development of engineering designs and
construction development
Managing construction works, maintenance of University infrastructure and construction
contracts
Managing infrastructure maintenance plans which includes buildings, water supply, waste
water and access roads
Monitoring projects and ensuring that projects progress according to set timelines
Monitor usage of materials and spares for construction and repairs
Assist the Director in the preparation and negotiation of contracts, leases, deeds and other
property legal documents
Handling human resources activities which include supervision of technical and junior staff
and performance management in liaison with the Human Resources Department Servicing University Committee meetings. Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent. Possession of Certificate
in Project Management is an added advantage
At least 5 years’ relevant post qualification experience, one of which should be at managerial
level Membership of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe or Institute of Engineers. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
