1. JOB PURPOSE

 

 

The position exists to assist in the running of the organization’s operations. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day management of the organization’s operations, including but not limited to, the implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of rail and related services. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that maximize service delivery and company value.

 

 

2. KEY RESULT AREAS

 

 

a) Service delivery, planning and marketing
b) Business development and operations
c) Implementation and optimization of business processes
d) Policy development and implementation

 

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Overseeing the marketing, business development operations, and the implementation of operational strategies.

Managing and optimizing the organization’s business processes, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Assisting in managing NRZ’s resources to ensure optimal utilization.

Supporting the Chief Executive Officer in the running of the organization, including the formulation of strategic, operational, and financial plans.

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.

Liaising with stakeholders, including government, customers, and other partners, in the running of the organization.

Overseeing the implementation of risk and change management initiatives across the business.

Approving the Operations Division’s Capital, Maintenance, Marketing and Technical Budgets.

 

 

4. QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Possess an appropriate University degree in Engineering, Accounting, Economics or equivalent.

Possession of a relevant post-graduate qualification will be an added advantage.

Full member of a relevant professional body.

 

 

5. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

 

A minimum of 10 years of progressive senior management experience, with at least 5 years in a similar position, preferably in a large and complex organization.

Demonstrable experience in the transport or logistics sector, with particular reference to railways, will be an added advantage.

Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure, turnaround strategies, and stakeholder management.

Strong financial, strategic, and resource management skills.

Experience in corporate governance and compliance.

Experience in managing capital budgets and financial probity.
