What is a dental surgery assistant?
This is a trainee position not a job offer. During and after training your responsibilities may include preparing patients and the operating room for the dentist. You will sterilize and organize instruments, have a patient’s X-rays and chart on hand for the dental surgeon or periodontist, and prepare the patient by giving topical anesthetic and discussing the operation. As an oral surgeon’s assistant, you’ll interact with patients, set up workstations, assist with dental treatments, and handle office tasks.

What is the role of nurse aide?
Nurse Aides provide or assist with basic care or support under the direction of onsite licensed nursing staff. Perform duties such as monitoring of health status, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, or ambulation of patients in a health or nursing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

DENTAL
You will work closely with dentists who conduct oral surgery as an oral surgeon’s assistant, commonly known as a dental assistant. Your responsibilities will range from setting up workstations to instructing patients on post-operative dental care. A full Job description of a dental surgery assistant will be provided. Computer training or proficiency is an absolute requirement so as to be able to administer Health263 claims (Biometric claims).
MEDICAL
1. Take vital signs
2. Assist patients with performing basic tasks such as eating, bathing dressing and toileting when necessary
3. Respond to calls from patients in the wards for assistance or treatment and alert senior staff to pending emergency situation.
4. Engage in housekeeping tasks such as replacing linens on beds, cleaning and sanitizing patients’ rooms and removing and replacing trash bags.
5. Provide and empty bedpans
6. Lift patients into beds, wheelchairs or examination tables
7. Restock linen rooms with necessary supplies
8. Serve as a conduit between patients, nurses and doctors and communicate all issues to medical staff.
9. Transport patients to operating rooms, treatment units, x-ray departments etc., and setting up equipment at a nurses or doctors request.
10. Work in kitchen to ensure that all in-patients get correct meals and that all patients are able to eat.
11. Assist the RGN, Midwife and Medical Doctor during patient treatment and related tasks.
12. Assist Radiographer and Ultra sonographer.
13. Any other duty that may be given by a senior.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications And Experience
(1) Minimum 5 O level passes (Not more than 2 sittings)-Maths, Science, English and any other two passes.
(2) Minimum age 25 years.
(3) Proof of computer training or proven proficiency is A DEFINITE ADVANTAGE.
(4) Nurse Aide certificates (Red cross or St Johns) are an advantage but absolutely not a requirement at all.
(5) Must be able to find accomodation within walking distance of Domboshava Medclinic, immediately.
(6) Female environment.
(7) Must be able to provide own scrubs, crocs and be able to go through a rigorous 12 months orientation.
(8) A monthly stipend in USD will be paid on a monthly basis.
