JOB DESCRIPTION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of DATA ENGINEER which has arisen within the Judicial Service Commission. The Commission is a dynamic organization that comprises of competent and professional staff. The incumbents will be stationed at the Judicial Service Commission-Secretariat.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Engineer will assist the Head of IT and Records Management to:

• Develop and maintain datasets for the Judicial Service Commission;
• Analyze and organize raw data for the Judicial Service Commission;
• Build data systems and pipelines;
• Evaluate business needs and objectives of the organization;
• Interpret trends and patterns;
• Conduct complex data analysis and report on results to management and users;
• Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling;
• Build algorithms and prototypes;
• Combine raw information from different sources for decision making by management;
• Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability;
• Identify opportunities for data acquisition within the organization;
• Develop analytical tools and programs for the Judicial Service Commission.

COMPETENCE AND SKILLS FOR THE POST

The person must possess:

• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field;
• 3 Years’ experience as a data engineer or in a similar role;
• Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques;
• Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python);
• A hands-on experience with SOL database design
• A great numerical and analytical skills;
