The Tree of Life (ToL) is a local NGO based in Harare, working in the area of trauma healing for communities and individuals.

Position overview
The Data Clerk will be responsible for data capture and maintenance of key databases, activity tracking, translation and transcribing of data, and general monitoring and evaluation support. We are looking for a young, vibrant, detail-oriented and organized individual who is very computer proficient. As a member of the Knowledge Management Team, the Data Clerk will report to the Knowledge Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

Data Entry: Accurately enters data through various qualitative and quantitative software programs; Ensures security of data; Compiles statistical reports for analysis; Organises files and collects data for entry; Daily analyse data for errors and report problems.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) activities: maintains various activity tracking sheets in excel; Supports in the collection of stories from the field; Summarises all evaluations and community reports for analysis and reporting purposes; Assists with baseline surveys; project evaluations and research activities; Participates in learning activities. Transcribes and translates audio recordings or written interviews; Follows up on reports due from other teams; supports communications initiatives when required, participates in field activities when required.

Required skills and attributes

Able to maintain confidentiality; Must be able to do data entries with optimal accuracy; Knowledge of database software; Must be organized; Must manage self in time; Superior keyboarding skills are a must; A team player who works in order to achieve a common goal. Must be proficient in Shona and English (Ndebele an added advantage)

Qualifications and experience

Tertiary Diploma in Social Sciences, Statistics, M&E or Public Health; Minimum one-year data entry experience; Computer literate, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook. MS Access, NVivo and SPSS (or other statistical packages) an added advantage; Qualification in Advanced Excel will be an added advantage; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
