The Data Capture Clerk will be responsible for accurately capturing, verifying, updating and maintaining Council data in spreadsheets and computerized databases. The role includes checking source documents for accuracy, correcting inconsistencies, generating reports, maintaining records, performing data backups and ensuring compliance with the Council’s data confidentiality, integrity and security requirements. He/she will be reporting to the Registrar of the MDPCZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop data entry forms or templates for MDPCZ thematic activities
  • Participate in the development of the MDPCZ database
  • Collate and enter personal data into the MDPCZ database
  • Review all data for errors and report unusual findings to management
  • Collect, and check accuracy of, information before entering data into software programs
  • Scan and print documents required for data entry
  • Work in line with privacy guidelines as dictated by Council Policy
  • Generate system reports on information or summaries of all reports, complaints, and/or Health reports
  • Ensure proper updates of captured data
  • File and organise paperwork used to enter data into programs to keep a record of original documents
  • Perform quality control on data generated by Council and report anomalies
  • Create backups of Council data
  • Capture research and accounts data from the source documents into spreadsheets or computerized databases
  • Compute and verify the information for its accuracy before entering it into the computer
  • Review data before input for errors, correct inconsistencies, and check the output
  • Prepare and maintain reports, providing them when necessary, while also performing backup operations
  • Comply with data integrity and Council security policies
  • Maintain records or logbooks of all performed tasks
