Youth Advocates delivers online emergency support, protects young people, provides healthcare, prevents and responds to violence against women and girls, safeguards human rights and helps to kick-start economic recovery. Youth Advocates seeks qualified, experienced and hardworking candidates to fill in the position of Helpline Counsellor. Candidates will be responsible for the following
DUTIES
Registering young people on the Helpline
Disseminating HIV/SRH and other Health Related information to young people via both inbound and outbound calls as well as through Helpline Social Media platforms
Offering Psychosocial support and counselling to Helpline clients
Conducting case follows
Tracking young people for service uptake
Linking young people to appropriate services as requested.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time.
Assist in gathering information on emerging advocacy issues to be lobbied for through multi-media and in cluster meetings.
REQUIREMENTS
Person specification
Essential qualifications, skills and requirements
Degree in Psychology or Social Work will be an and experience in counselling will be and added advantage and must be below the age 28 with the following:
Fluent Ndebele Speakers only
Knowledge and experience in computers (Microsoft excel, word and PowerPoint.)
Good report writing skills
Ability to work in close collaboration with team members in a multi-location team
Strong written communication skills: ability to present and research clearly
Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines
Good analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
