CONTRACT MOTORIZED GRADER OPERATOR – Nyanga Rural District Council

A position for Contract Motorized Grader Operator has arisen within Council’s Technical Services Department. For this reason, applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced personnel to fill the above-mentioned position at Nyanga Rural District Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate motorized graders efficiently and in a manner that will not result in avoidable breakdowns.
  • Capable of road grading for construction and maintenance works.
  • Grading roads to proper camber and/or cross fall as specified.
  • Blade mixing of road base materials /gravels to ensure maximum compaction levels are achieved during road construction.
  • Efficiently filling in the sections of roads with rills, gullies and depressions during grading.
  • Performs any and all other activities that can be performed with a motorized grader.
  • Capable of physical labour such as blade changing, culvert installation, walking ditch banks to read grader stakes.
  • Be able to do final cutting on the road pavement prior to road surfacing.
  • Be reliable and able to work extended hours over the normal workday to meet set targets with little or no supervision.

Requirements

  • A valid motorized grader operator certificate or competency licence.
  • At least 5 years experience in road construction industry.
  • Class 2 Driver’s Licence will an added advantage.
  • Experience in operating TLB and /Vibratory Roller will be an added advantage.
  • At least 30 years of age.
  • A least 3 ‘O’ Level passes is an added advantage.
