Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise day-to-day site operations, reporting to the Client and coordinating with the Architect and Engineers.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to ensure works proceed in the correct sequence and to programme.
- Provide technical guidance on setting out, structural works, roof installation, services coordination, and finishes in line with approved documents.
- Review issued drawings and site conditions, identify discrepancies or buildability concerns, and escalate technical matters as required.
- Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure consultant inspections are arranged at key hold points; maintain site diaries, records, photographs, and issue logs.
- Support the client in reviewing progress claims, identifying variations, and tracking delivery against milestones; lead site safety, toolbox talks, housekeeping, and incident reporting; assist with snagging, practical completion, and handover.
Requirements
- Welcome: A qualification in Construction Management, Building, Quantity Surveying, Structural / Civil Engineering, or a related built-environment discipline.
- Equally welcome: Trade or technical qualifications (diploma, certificate, apprenticeship) backed by strong post-qualification site experience. Proven ability and track record will be prioritised over academic credentials; novice candidates without site experience are unlikely to be successful.
- Strongly valued: Practical skills in quantity surveying (measurement, valuations, materials control) and structural engineering (steel erection, concrete works, setting out).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in building construction supervision, site engineering, or construction/site management – preferably on projects involving structural steel, roof installation, concrete works, and multi-trade coordination.
- Skills and attributes: Strong site coordination and leadership; ability to interpret drawings and specifications; sound HSE awareness; good ICT and reporting skills; high integrity and sound judgement under pressure. Additional training in project management, OHS, or contract administration is advantageous.
- Availability: Continuous site-based engagement throughout the 8-month contract period.
