COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Duties And Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Key Job Functions of this position will be to
• Conceptualise and manage corporate communication strategies and annual work plans informed by the Authority’s strategic plan and national energy priorities
• Develop and manage corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility, digital media policies and procedures
• Coordinate the identification and management of corporate social responsibility programs
• Facilitate and coordinate energy related conferences, exhibitions, workshops and engagements at all levels
• Inculcate corporate journalism within the department to ensure timeous coverage of developments within the Authority and across the energy sector
• Develop and manage a robust internal communication strategy
• Manage and populate digital and online platforms with appropriate and up to date content
• Provide strategic and creative editorial direction for all corporate publications and audio visual awareness productions
• Develop and facilitate annual media engagement programs
• Coordinate and manage the execution of periodic, sector specific and National Energy Stakeholder and Client Satisfaction Surveys
Qualifications And Experience
Key Job Requirements:
The successful candidate for this position should meet the following criteria:
• BA/BSc Communications/Media/Journalism/English
• An advanced degree such as MSc/MA in Journalism and Media Studies or MSc/MA in International
Relations or MBA is an added advantage
• 10 years’ experience in corporate communications, media, public relations and advocacy fields with five years in a managerial position
• Appreciation of Energy Sector
