COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT FOR DISABILITY INCLUSION AWARENESS – United Nations Volunteers (UNV)

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme in Zimbabwe is recruiting four Online Volunteers to support communications and social media activities for its Disability Inclusion Awareness initiative.
The volunteers will contribute to digital engagement, content creation and awareness campaigns promoting the meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities in development, humanitarian and peacebuilding efforts.
The assignment supports Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and schedule social media content to promote disability inclusion initiatives.
  • Create engaging digital content, including captions, graphics concepts and key messages.
  • Support live online engagement during the Disability Inclusion Event.
  • Monitor comments, messages and online discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to amplify content through relevant networks and partners.
  • Draft social media summaries, event highlights and success stories.
  • Collect and organise social media analytics and engagement metrics.
  • Promote disability inclusion messages using accessible and inclusive language.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess strong communication and digital engagement skills. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Social media management, Communications and public information, Digital marketing, Content writing and storytelling, Graphic design and multimedia content creation, Community management and online engagement
  • Previous experience in disability inclusion, human rights, youth engagement, gender equality or related development issues will be an added advantage.
  • Applicants should demonstrate: Excellent written communication skills, Creativity in developing engaging digital content, Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, Strong interpersonal skills and responsibility, Familiarity with inclusive and accessible communication practices.
  • Knowledge of United Nations values and principles is desirable.
