The Judicial Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals within the Harare community to fill the position of Chinese Court Interpreter at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
The Commission is a dynamic organization composed of competent and professional staff dedicated to upholding justice and the rule of law.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Chinese Court Interpreter will support the courts by:
•Interpreting in court proceedings
•Acting as an intermediary in cases involving minor children or other vulnerable witnesses or litigants
•Accompanying magistrates to prisons and police cells to interpret as required
•Translating court documents and extra-curial statements
•Compiling court statistics
•Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills
Applicants must possess:
•A Bachelor’s Degree in Language and Communication, Media and Societal Studies, or any other relevant field approved by the Judicial Service Commission
•A degree or diploma in Chinese Language
•Excellent command of English and fluency in Chinese
•Proficiency in both spoken and written Chinese (mandatory)
•High personal integrity and professionalism
