Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field;
Technical certifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCSA/MD-100, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) are an added advantage;
Three (3) years hands-on experience in technical support, IT hardware maintenance, or telecommunications systems;
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common academic applications;
Familiarity with telecommunications technologies (PBX, VoIP, SIP);
Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and manage technical workloads;
Good communication skills to support both technical and non-technical users.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the Hardware Technicians, Telecommunications Technicians;
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced hardware, software, and peripheral issues escalated from the service desk;
Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and multimedia equipment;
Coordinate telecommunications support, including VoIP systems, phones, and communication devices;
Plan and allocate work for technical staff, ensuring efficiency and timely resolution of issues;
Monitor and maintain an inventory of IT equipment, ensuring repairs, upgrades, and replacements are documented;
Provide technical leadership during IT rollouts, upgrades, and migrations;
Escalate recurring or systemic problems to the Service Desk Engineer or Infrastructure Teams for long-term solutions;
Train and guide junior staff to build technical capacity within the team;
Ensure compliance with IT security, health & safety standards, and university policies.
