VACANCY: 

The Chief Operations Officer is a senior executive who oversees the company’s daily business operations, implementing business strategies and optimizing the organization’s operational capabilities and is responsible for overseeing the operational functions of the five strategic business units. The role reports directly to the CEO and ensures support to the CEO in the practical realization of the company vision whilst fostering a cohesive business culture. The role will be on a five (5) year fixed term contract renewable once based on performance.

1. KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
⦁ Collaborates with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in setting and driving the organizational vision, operations strategy and
hiring levels.
⦁ Implements business strategies and plans that align with the short and long-term objectives developed in tandem with CEO.
⦁ Translates company strategy into actionable steps for growth whilst implementing organizational-strategic goals, performance management and annual operations plans.
⦁ Designs and implements business operations, business process re-engineering, analysis of internal operations and identifies areas for process enhancement.
⦁ Oversees the implementation of all operational plans by agreeing on targets with divisional heads and setting a mechanism for progress tracking.
⦁ Develops robust business cases for new operations and plant upgrades. Optimizes capital investments for the business by assessing the return on investment on capital employed.
⦁ Participates in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.).
⦁ Collaborates with various departments to ensure procedures function appropriately and policies are implemented effectively.
⦁ Oversees company operations and employee productivity and ensures that organizational goals are met.
⦁ Ensures effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention.
⦁ Ensures compliance with local and national business regulations and takes appropriate action when necessary.
⦁ Builds and maintains trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
⦁ Ensures the organization’s productivity by building and instilling a high-performance culture within the business.
⦁ Ensures each division supports the organization’s operations strategy by agreeing on critical goals and targets for all senior leaders.
⦁ Develops a succession plan for critical roles within the business by collaborating with the CEO and the Board.

1. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

⦁ A technical Degree such as B.Sc. Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/Mining Engineering/Chemistry I Business-related qualification.
⦁ An MBA or MBL is a must have qualification.
⦁ A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
⦁ Effective communication and presentation skills to convey operational issues to stakeholders.
⦁ Knowledge of ISO 9001, IS014001 and ISO 45001 standards
