LoriMak Africa has been contracted by Sunway City to assist with the recruitment and selection of a suitable candidate for the role of Chief Operating Officer.

REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
ROLE PROFILE: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sunway City Operations, made up of the Business Development Department, the Town Planning Department and the Construction and Civil Engineering Departments in ensuring the effective and efficient execution of Sunway City Vision and mandate. This role involves strategic planning, project management, operational financial oversight, and leadership of various teams to achieve organizational goals and deliver exceptional results.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
⦁ Develop and implement operational strategies for enhanced efficiency and productivity.
⦁ Oversee day-to-day operations across departments to meet goals on time, within budget, and with high quality.
⦁ Collaborate with the CEO to define strategic objectives and implement business strategies for growth.
⦁ Manage project planning, scheduling, and risk to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
⦁ Control expenses, manage budgets, and analyse financial data for informed decision-making.
⦁ Lead and develop teams, fostering a positive work environment and supporting professional growth.
⦁ Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and maintain quality control processes.
⦁ Build and maintain strong client relationships, address concerns, and support business development efforts.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
⦁ Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
⦁ Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
⦁ In-depth knowledge of construction processes, standards, and regulations.
⦁ A working knowledge and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and understanding of financial statements.
⦁ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and employees.
⦁ Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
⦁ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: AND EXPERIENCE:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management; Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying; Architectural Studies/Strategic Management.
⦁ An MBA/MBL or a relevant Masters Degree is a must.
⦁ Must possess a Project Management Qualification.
⦁ Minimum of 1 0 years of experience in the construction/property development and real estate industries, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
