Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Managing the day-to-day running of the fire department.
- Develop and review brigade standard operational procedures, policies.
- Plan training programs.
- Review commercial, industrial, and building plans.
- Command major fire and emergency operations day and night.
- Determine operations of shifts.
- Advise management of all fire and emergency service matters.
- Investigate the causes of fire and proffer solutions to mitigate work hazards.
- Attend external meetings and departmental meetings, including civil protection forums and workshops, representing the brigade.
- To estimate, anticipate, and predict future conditions, events, situations, and problems / opportunities in the operations of the fire department.
- Enforces council fire policies and bylaws for public safety protection in existing buildings and new constructions.
Requirements
- Station officer certificate from the Zimbabwe Fire Services Examination Board.
- At least 5 ‘O’ Level subjects including English.
- Clean Class 4 Driver’s licence.
- Served in any institution that deals with fire fighting and emergency rescuing as a sub officer or leading fire-fighter for at least 5 years.
- Must be familiar with the model By-laws on fire.
- Must be 30 years old and above
