The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership, executive management, and direction of the Commission. The CEO will ensure the effective implementation of Board-approved strategies, sound corporate governance, financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and stakeholder confidence while driving long-term growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of the Commission’s Results Based Strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the Commission’s vision and objectives.
  • Provides overall leadership of the Commission’s operations, performance, and resources to achieve agreed targets.
  • Recommends appropriate policy proposals to the Government concerning capital markets.
  • Ensures strong corporate governance, risk management, compliance, and ethical standards across the Commission.
  • Reviews the quarterly Prudential and AML/CFT/PF compliance report.
  • Develops the organization’s financial strategy and ensures that it is implemented.
  • Ensures annual budget is approved by the Board and the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment.
  • Develops and ensures implementation of the Client Service Charter.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, partners, funders, shareholders, and the public.
  • Develops and ensures the implementation of investor education and awareness strategies whilst also making policy recommendations to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion.
  • Evaluates and approves all procurements for the Commission.
  • Leads, mentors, and manages the Senior Management team, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture.
  • Administers the Commissions affairs, funds and properties.
  • Controls and supervises the Commission’s staff.
  • Oversees performance management for the Commission.
  • Oversees Commission policies, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Implements any Board approved structural changes, as well as ensuring the Commission is adequately staffed.
  • Represents the Commission at strategic levels, i.e. to Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, AfDB, World Bank.
  • Exercises any other function that may be conferred or imposed upon him/her by or under the Securities and Exchange Act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline
  • A Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ senior management experience, with at least 5 years at executive leadership level
  • Proven track record in strategic leadership and experience in capital markets
