Our client, AMA, is a State-Owned Enterprise mandated with the overall regulation of the production, marketing, and processing of agricultural products in Zimbabwe.

We have been exclusively retained by the Board of Directors to assist with the recruitment and selection of a highly qualified, experienced, and competent candidate to fill the critical and strategic role of Chief Executive Officer. Reporting directly to the Board, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the execution of the Authority’s mandate and long-term strategy to have a sustainable and prosperous agricultural sector driven by effective marketing regulatory services.

Key Job Functions:

– Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Authority.
– Develop and execute AMA’s strategic direction and ensure organisational success.
– Manage day-to-day activities of the Authority and implement short- and long-term plans.
– Monitor external environment changes and develop regulations that promote sustainable agricultural development.
– Promote Zimbabwe as an investment destination for agriculture.
– Drive the Authority towards achieving national economic blueprints based on government policies.
– Ensure proper financial management and accountability to make the Authority a viable State-Owned Enterprise.
– Engage and sustain collaborative relationships with stakeholders locally, regionally, and internationally.
– Assess and manage risks effectively.
– Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
– Uphold the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance.
– Support subordinates in achieving their objectives and targets.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate must have:

– A degree in Business Management, Agriculture, or a related field, plus a postgraduate qualification such as an MBA/MBL/MSc.
– At least 12 years of relevant experience, with 8 years at an Executive Management level.
– Strong ability to build long-term strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
– Excellent understanding of corporate governance and compliance matters.
– A strategic mindset with integrity beyond reproach.
