A vacancy has arisen for the above position which is based in Harare. Reporting to the Board of Chemplex Corporation Limited and to the General Manager of Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe (IDCZ), the successful candidate will be expected, infer alia to discharge the following major responsibilities:
Scope
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for overall oversight of the business, provision of effective strategic leadership and direction in achieving the vision, mission, values and strategic goals for the growth and development of the business in order to achieve the organization’s objectives.
The role will be on a five (5)-year fixed term contract renewable once based on performance.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Planning
Leads the business units management teams in the development of the corporation’s vision, mission, values and strategic goals and lays down the success factors for approval by the Board.
Provides strategic guidelines to managers of business units and functional managers.
Oversees and directs strategic implementation processes as to achieve goals and objectives of the Corporation.
Authorises development and investment plans in line with strategy.
Develops short- and long-term business plans for approval by the Board.
Ensures the Corporation’s adherence and compliance with the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Entities Act and the Public finance Management Act.
Financial Performance
Approves financial and capital budgets for business units and submission to the Board.
Monitors financial performance against strategy to ensure value creation, profitability and growth to achieve shareholder requirements.
Ensure financial systems and policies are implemented.
Approves capital expenditure up to set limits, otherwise recommends to the Board.
Develops and implements strategies for cost containment within budget.
Operational Performance
Approves strategic operational policies and plans for business units.

Ensures resources required for operations are available.
Monitors overall operational efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
Provides guidelines and approves capital projects within the limits set by the Board.
Human Resources
Creating an enabling environment that fosters high productivity through developing and maintaining strategically managed and effective human resources system. Agrees performance targets for business unit executive managers.
Establishes overall conditions of employment.
Approves training and development, and succession plans for senior management and executives.
Recommends appointment, promotion, remuneration and all other aspects relating to the welfare of immediate subordinates, and authorises the same for all other senior managers.
Ensures that appropriate Human Resources strategies are developed and effectively implemented to support the business strategies.
Public Relations
Ensures the Corporation’s relationships with stakeholdesr are in line with strategic goals.
Monitors activities and standards of operating units and liaises with key stakeholders.
Approves and monitors corporate social responsibility programmes.
Ensures effective networking with the key stakeholders.
Subsidiary and Associated Companies
Monitors performance of subsidiary and associate companies together with other shareholders and ensure achievement of planned goals and report to the Chemplex Board.

Education
A technical Degree such as B.Sc. Chemical Engineering/ Chemistry or a relevant Business-related qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, Business Studies /Marketing.
An MBA or MBL is a must have qualification.
Experience
A minimum of ten years’ experience in executive management role of which six years should have been in control of a major business unit or undertaking/responsibility.
