Key Responsibilities
- Leading programmes that promote mineral beneficiation, value addition and investment by local and foreign investors.
- Providing expert guidance on the sustainable utilisation of strategic, energy, metallic and and industrial minerals.
- Overseeing mineral research and innovation programmes that support mining development.
- Developing frameworks to monitor and analyse mining industry performance and generate strategic intelligence.
- Coordinating strategies to transform small-scale mining operations into medium and large-scale enterprises.
- Supervising the monitoring of imported mineral-bearing products processed for re-export.
- Maintaining up-to-date information on existing and potential mineral deposits.
- Providing oversight of mining parastatals and State Enterprises.
- Leading departmental budgeting and funding strategy development.
- Managing integrated databases for mining development, research and beneficiation programmes.

Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Survey, Metallurgy or an equivalent qualification. A higher qualification will be an added advantage.
- Mandatory certification by a recognised professional body.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant experience, including a minimum of two (2) years at Director level or an equivalent position.
- Thorough understanding of national development priorities.
- Strong knowledge of mining legislation, policies and regulatory frameworks at both local and international levels.
- Extensive knowledge of mineral processing techniques and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in mineral value chain optimisation strategies.
- Familiarity with national and international standards governing mineral research, processing and exports.
- Experience designing environmentally and socially sustainable mining programmes.
- Strong ability to evaluate the economic, environmental and social impacts of mining activities.
