Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Chief Buyer which has arisen at Choppies Zimbabwe. The position will be based in Harare.

Duties and Responsibilities

THE KEY DELIVERABLES FOR THIS POSITION SHALL, INTER ALIA, INCLUDE:

• Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
• Establish and maintain contact with suppliers and working with key account managers.
• Interview suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements. Negotiating trading terms and advertising spend
• New listing with extensive knowledge of SLA agreements and compliances.
• Yearly as well as monthly promotional planning with suppliers and arrange things to facilitate
  the same such as Preparation of flyers etc.
• Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and maintain adequate stock levels
• Pricing and Right Pricing Strategies.
• Fix Product range and merchandising standards in shops
• Reporting – Stock, Turnover, profit, store compliances, promotions
• Developing an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
• Working within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report back any back ordered or missing products.
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
• Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management
• Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained to achieve the operational and financial goals
• Participate during the process of Preparation of Sales Budget, GP Budget and Achieve the same
• Working with category team to ensure store activation.
• Management Reporting
• Assuring Return on Inventory

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the position of Chief Buyer
• Experience in a Retail/FCMG environment will be an advantage
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, An MBA will be an added advantage.
• Excellent Computer Skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point)
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
