Pan African Mining is seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced

 

 

*Chief Assayer

 

 

to lead our Laboratory Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all the analysis and testing of ore samples at group level, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality in our laboratory operations.

 

 

*Key Responsibilities:

 

 

1. *Assay Analysis & Quality Control* Oversee the testing and analysis of ore and other materials to determine gold and mineral content accurately.
1. *Laboratory Management* – Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
1. *Method Development & Validation* Develop, implement, and validate analytical methods for precise and reliable assay results.
1. *Compliance & Reporting* – Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and prepare accurate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
1. *Equipment Maintenance & Calibration* Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and proper functioning of laboratory instruments and assay equipment.
1. *Team Leadership & Training* – Manage and train laboratory personnel to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
1. *Process Optimization* – Collaborate with metallurgists and production teams to optimize sampling procedures and improve ore recovery processes.
1. *Investigation & Troubleshooting* Identify and resolve discrepancies in assay results and ensure the integrity of testing procedures.

 

 

*Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in assay laboratory operations, preferably in gold mining and mineral processing.
• Proven experience in fire assay, wet chemistry, and instrumental analysis (e.g., AAS, XRF, ICP).
• Strong knowledge of assay techniques, quality control, and laboratory safety standards.
• Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation, calibration, and data interpretation.
