JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Procurement Executive , the successful applicant will , among other key aspects , be responsible for

• Implementing Procurement Strategy
• Developing supplier management strategy and implementing
• Developing and implementing pricing strategy and implementing
• Developing and implementing pricng strategy by branch , by region
• Negotiating with suppliers on : ad-hoc deals and strategic buying , promotion deals, cycle deals and deal extensions, extension of payment terms and delivery dates
• Compilation and placement of all branch orders with suppliers
• Carrying out supplier performance reviews
• Managing product range within categories to satisfy customer needs
• Determining branching needs as well as understanding their markets
• Ensuring proper price control
• Listing all new suppliers and products within their categories after approval by the new product approval Committee, Head of Procurement
• Merchandise selection , costing and pricing of products
• Monitoring stock levels (Dead and slow moving stock)
• Conducting price surveys to ensure that our pricing structures are competitive and profitable
• Negotiating and recommending trading terms with suppliers , strategic buying , promotion deals and deal extensions
• Compiling , writing , submitting monthly reports and market trends (price movements) for management and Branch personnel
• Ensuring that all branches have adequate suppliers of quality goods/services with the right prices , right quantities and at the right time
• Selection and listing of new products and suppliers
• Relationship management with relevant stakeholders

The Person

The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes in their field of study

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Retail & Buying or Business Administration
• At least 3 – 5 years proven working experience as a Buyer
• Strong analytical , negotiating and deal closing skills
• Knowledge of and sourcing techniques
• Experience in Retail and or Wholesale Operations is pre-requisite
