Position Description
Reporting to the Commercial Manager – Projects , the Buyer will source quotations, compare prices, raise purchase orders and expedite deliveries to ensure that materials, equipment and services are procured cost-effectively and on time.
The position will support production and service requirements while ensuring compliance with SAP processes, procurement procedures and the Zimplats Business Management System (BMS).

Key Responsibilities
- Analyse purchase requisitions to ensure clarity and completeness of material and equipment descriptions, quantities, quality and other requirements.
- Evaluate bid quotations for responsiveness to RFQs, considering commercial terms and conditions, price, delivery, quality control and other relevant factors.
- Negotiate or assist in negotiating the best price, delivery, payment terms, price escalation and other cost-related conditions.
- Expedite outstanding orders and contracts to meet delivery dates, production targets and service requirements.
- Place orders and contracts with selected suppliers for local and foreign goods and services.
- Conduct market intelligence and liaise with Stores on stock and delivery matters.
- Analyse usage patterns in relation to purchase costs.
- Ensure completeness of the Procure to Pay process.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements within the buying function.
- Assist in preparing the departmental budget.

- A Diploma or Degree in Purchasing and Supply or Stores Management.
- A minimum of four years’ relevant procurement experience.
