Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or a related field.
A Master’s Degree in IT or Business-related field is an added advantage.
At least 2 years of working experience in a supervisory role.
At least 5 years’ working experience in developing software solutions.

Job Summary

The Business Solutions Manager will be responsible for managing a team of software developers, analysts, designers, and testers in the development and implementation of software systems that meet the needs of Midlands State University. The manager will also be responsible for overseeing the overall project management of the ITS department and advising the ITS Director on matters related to software development and project management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the User Requirements Engineering process to identify business needs and requirements.
Manage the design of systems based on user requirements and specifications, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Manage the development of systems (Desktop, Web, Mobile) using programming languages such as PHP and Python.
Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Manage the testing of systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.
Manage the testing of systems security and secure systems by implementing security protocols and firewalls.
Manage the overall project management of the ITS department by coordinating with other departments and managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
Seek external IT-related business opportunities for the University as a way to generate additional income.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for software projects, including project plans, coding standards, and version control.
Stay updated on emerging software development trends, best practices, and technologies to ensure the university remains at the forefront of software innovation.
Advise the ITS Director on matters related to software development and project management.
