A private equity firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive high-value opportunities across commodity trading and large-scale commercial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop business opportunities with government, multinationals, municipalities, mining companies and large farming estates.
  • Source, structure, negotiate and execute commodity trading opportunities and large-scale supply contracts.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Identify tenders and commercial opportunities and coordinate proposals through to contract award.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms and contractual arrangements.
  • Monitor markets and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Develop and implement business development plans to achieve revenue targets.
  • Work with finance, legal and operational teams to support due diligence, contract execution and delivery.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Commerce, Marketing, Economics or a related field.
  • More than 10 years’ relevant experience in business development, commodity trading or large-scale procurement and sales.
  • A proven record of originating and delivering substantial business.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and closing high-value commercial transactions.
  • Strong financial and commercial judgement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • An established network of relevant industry contacts was an added advantage.
