Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of a Building Inspector, which has arisen in the Town Clerk’s Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives drawing plans for approval, examines them to check compliance to by-laws.
  • Approves the diagrams for submission to the Town Planner.
  • Advises Clients on necessary amendments in the event of rejection to ensure owners are well informed on requirements.
  • Checks and recommends the processes of assembling building units into the actual structure at every stage and ensuring that it is compliant with by laws.
  • Inspecting completed structures and upon satisfaction issuing out certificate of occupation.
  • Test and recommend appropriate building materials to ensure that the builders are well advised on quality material to use.

Requirements

  • At least 5 “O” Levels including English and Maths.
  • Apprenticeship trained journeyman Skilled Worker Class 1 in any building construction trades (Bricklaying/Carpentry/Plumbing).
  • City & Guilds Craft Certificate/National Craft Certificate/National Certificate in Carpentry/Bricklaying/Plumbing.
  • At least (3) years post qualification experience.
  • A clean record of service and a no criminal record.
  • A citizen of Zimbabwe.
  • Possession of a minimum clean Class 4 driver’s license.
