Suitably qualified, experienced and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the position of Branch Manager which has arisen within the Retail Banking Department
Job purpose
• To grow the branch portfolio and to deliver the Bank’s products and services to customers profitably.
Duties And Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among others:
• Prepares annual action plans for approval by the Branch Banking Manager by; Identifying high value customer segments to target in line with the products and
services of the Bank. Developing a schedule to visit customers
• Planning the resources and logistics required to carry out the visits in line with the budget.
• Monitoring market intelligence and submitting information to the Branch Banking Manager.
• Checks that branch staff are complying with financial and non-financial policy and procedures
• Performs bi-monthly and spot cash checks for tellers and vault.
• Scrutinizes account opening forms for completeness and adequacy of documentation submitted to ensure that the bank enters into low risk banking relationships.
• Manages the branch cash resources to ensure adequacy and security thereof.
• Carries out routine checks in line with Operational Procedure Manuals for correctness and completeness of updates of bank registers.
• Checks that staff are following laid down procedures and controls through weekly review of vouchers, registers, and cash checks.
• Monitors adequacy and appropriateness of branch security in terms of alarms, guards and staff reaction in case of emergency.
• Creates awareness of the branch’s existence, products and services by attending and participating in business functions, exhibitions and competitors functions.
• Develops and nurtures customer relationships through managing customer interactions such as customer visits, golf days and product launches.
• Receives credit applications from customers and check for completeness and submits to Credit Department
• Carries out site visits to assess operational activities of potential/borrowing customers whenever required.
• Ensures that customer service standards are being upheld in line with the Customer Service Standards Charter
• Addresses queries and reviews complaints register to check if queries have been addressed in the agreed set timeframes.
• Manages and controls all branch assets and ensures that they are operating efficiently through enforcement of proper handling and use of all assets.
• Conducts staff appraisals and identifies training needs for submission to the Training and Development Department.
• Checks and confirms that staff observes and maintains high standards of personal conduct in order to uphold the image of the bank.
• Prepares the Branch’s budget/s for inclusion in the departmental budget for the year.
• Checks, monitors branch revenue and expenses report, raises queries and resolves any anomalies.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
• First Degree in Business, Banking and Finance or Economics or equivalent and IOBZ Diploma. Post graduate qualification i.e MBA or equivalent will be an added advantage
• 4 to 6 years’ experience in Retail Banking, 3 or more years should be in Supervisory position
