Applicants Must Posses a Bachelors degree,preferably in Business Studies,Marketing or Purchasing and Supply. Appropriate post qualification experience and working knowledge in retail management will be an added advantage.Computer literacy is essential
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be required to undertake the following activities:
- Planning. organising and managing bookstore activities
- Completing bookshop operating requirements by scheduling and assigning employees following upon work results
- Building, leading and empowering a communicative and effective store team by delegating, coaching and directing store team members to help them achieve their higher potential
- Setting team daily, and long-term direction and goals and reinforce messages on a daily and regular basis through coaching, team meetings and other forms of communication
- Maintaining bookshop staff job results by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees, planning monitoring and appraising job results
Identifying current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customer and other persons in a position to understand service requirements - Ensuring availability of merchandise and services by approving consignment stock contracts and maintaining inventories
- Formulating pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities, determining additional needed sales promotion and studying trends
- Marketing merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans, analysing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
- Securing merchandise by implementing security systems and measures
- Supervise staff in accounting functions, ordering books, supplies and related merchandise
- Protecting employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment
- Maintaining the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements
- Preparing and managing yearly bookshop budgets
- Servicing the UZ Bookshop Management Committee meetings
- Ensuring that the bookshop is profitable by increasing sales and keeping costs low
- Appraising members of staff within the section of their performance
